”International Owner” of a Maltese Ship

The definition of the term ”international owner” contained in the Ships Eligible For Registration Regulations (Subsidiary Legislation 234.23 Laws of Malta) has been widened to include citizens of the European Economic Area or Switzerland. The amendments were effected through Legal Notice 22 of 2015.

Consequently, citizens of the European Economic Area or Switzerland are now qualified to own a Maltese ship subject to the requirements contained in the said Regulations.
